1Password Review

1Password ReviewIf like me you have too many passwords to remember and not a great memory, you will be pleased to know that there are a few applications out there that can help you both secure and manage your passwords.

Trust me, you don’t want to take any chances with your passwords! You should never use the same password for all your membership sites, and if you want to secure your passwords and limit your risk of identity theft, try 1Password

What’s 1Password?

1Password Review1Password is an easy-to-use, elegant password management solution available on PC and Mac, as well as on iPhone, iPad and Android devices. 1Password, which is developed by Canadian company AgileBits, was originally designed for Mac users only. However the software became so popular that a Windows version was later released.

1Password easily incorporates itself into most web browers and will save and place your information (only if you want it) accordingly. Let’s put it simple: with 1Password you will never have to try remembering your login details again because it is right there to keep them safe and secure. 1Password is not only useful for login details but also for bank details, secure notes, identities…

How does it work?

1Password is dead simple to use. Every time you enter new login details into a form, it will ask you if you want to save them or not. If you choose to save them, 1Password will save them, and you will be able to easily log in with your master password only the next time you use the same form. You can also enter existing login details manually, so you don’t necessarily have to log into every of your membership sites to save the login details in 1Password.

1Password extensions support Firefox, Safari, Camino, Chrome; OmniWeb, NetNewsWire, Flock, DEVONagent and Netscape Navigator. All extensions share the data stored in the keychain which means that you will never need to manually copy your passwords from the password manager to a web browser or between web browsers ever again.

1Password can, to some extent, be compared to Keychain. It actually automatically synchronizes with Keychain but it also provides a much more versatile user experience. With 1Password you can store multiple identities, registration forms, checkout details, billing information… so it’s more than just a password manager.

Whenever you create a new password, you must pick a password that is not going to be easy to guess. With 1Password, you can create all sorts of passwords. The software makes light work of this task saving you time and making it easy for you to generate passwords. Not only does it generate the password, but it also fills it into the form that you are using to sign up.

What about safety?

1Password is relatively safe to use. Relatively because if the guys at LulzSec decide to find your passwords, they probably can… but the software will block most other people. The application requires a master password to log in. Also, it will time out after a certain period of time that you can specify yourself. In the 1Password manager you can edit accounts, add notes but also track history… so if someone accesses your computer while you’re away you can find out about it.

Speed
1Password is very fast, and very smooth. There is simply no waiting time.
